brown. this morning in afghanistan the taliban is claiming responsibility for a suicide attack that killed at least 14 people, including three nato service members. a suicide bomber riding a motorcycle rammed into a patrol. americans have a large presence there. nato is trying to sort out a weekend attack in afghanistan that left two americans dead. the casualties push the number of u.s. personnel killed in afghanistan to 2,000. the circumstances of saturday's violence remains unclear but a fire fight broke out at a checkpoint in eastern afghanistan. what nato hasn't determined so far was the gun battle a result of an insider attack or a deadly misunderstanding. drew levinson reports. >> reporter: this weekend marked the deadly milestone in afghanistan. 2,000 american soldiers killed since the war began nearly 11 years ago. it happened at a checkpoint in the eastern part of the country. one american soldier, an american contractor and three afghan soldiers were killed in a fire fight. >> the circumstances were somewhat confused but there was a report of insurgent firing taking

just a pinch of garlic and about a week's pay's worth of saffron. when the chicken is golden brown, add a dozen skinned tomatoes and as many red and green peppers as you can stand chopping. stir everything with a clean shovel. now, add a laundry bin of arborio rice and just a dash of smoked sweet pimentos. stir briskly until the rice has become coated with the oils and spices. add a few gallons of stock and bring to a boil. add another pallet if necessary. mix in a boatload of fresh whole shrimp. when the rice is done, remove, remembering to lift with your knees, and let set for 10 minutes. now, you could just stare at the pretty colors and textures, but i recommend eating it for the full experience. dish out servings daintily and garnish with a wedge of lemon. feeds 48 hungry vacationers. adjust recipe measurements accordingly.

a purple line well above a brown line, meaning you have a line that actually shows positive versus a placebo? >> yeah, so the six-minute walk test is the primary outcome measure that is studied to understand the progression of ducenne must -- muscular dystrophy patients end up in a wheelchair. we measure their progression by this six-minute walk. we selected a population that we would have expected would have declined over 48 weeks. in fact, the placebo delayed treatment cohort that did decline through 36 weeks was something we expected. and that was a typical sign of this progressive disease. the fact that we showed a stabilization through 36 weeks excited the prospect of this drug. it excited the researchers and clinicians and the advocacy organizations in duchenne. now we've gone a step further. not only did we show stability through 48 weeks but we showed an improvement, as you mentioned. i'll also say the placebo drug is now on drug and they're producing the protein. so the best case scenario we were hoping for was a stabilization of the progression in the placebo arm, which i
